Is the Kardashian-Jenner clan invading Broadway too? That’s what a lot of people asked when reality star-turned-supermodel Kendall Jenner turned up at the 2015 Tony Awards on Sunday. But it turns out that Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was responsible for Jenner's presence.

Kendall and the rest of her family are constantly invited to attend various award shows, such as the Grammys and the Teen’s Choice Awards. But the Tony Awards -- which honor the world of the Broadway theater -- have never been their thing. So with no obvious connections to theater, the 19-year-old Jenner’s presence at the event surprised some.

But on Sunday, Jenner showed up at Radio City Music Hall in New York City and walked the red carpet with designer Francisco Costa, creative director of fashion label Calvin Klein. Predictably, Jenner wore one of his creations.

E! News revealed that both Jenner and Costa were summoned to the event by Wintour, the notorious fashion industry powerhouse who has teamed up with American Theater Wing head and costume designer William Ivey Long with one mission in mind: Glam up the Tony Awards. Their team also includes Jordan Roth, described only as a Broadway power player, and fashion public relations firm KCD.

The group went on a quest to elevate the fashion sense of the 2015 Tonys. The Oscars, Emmys and Grammys have always been hot spots for red carpet fashion and this year, Wintour and the rest of the group aimed to step it up for the Tonys as well.

Apart from dressing up the nominees and guests in the best threads from the likes of Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Valentino, top designers and supermodels were also in attendance. Apart from Jenner and Costa, other model-designer pairings were spotted at the event. For example, model Bella Hadid came escorted by Prabal Gurung, while Ashley Greene was accompanied by Jason Wu.
