Princess Diana became suspicious of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles due to a particular incident.

Princess Diana was very young when she dated Prince Charles who was 12 years her senior. Initially, they were okay until she found out that he had an affair with Camilla.

According to royal biographer Andrew Morton, Princess Diana got suspicious of Camilla’s relationship with Prince Charles when the latter kept on asking her if she would join the future king to hunting.

“It was during that meeting, arranged to coincide with Prince Charles’s trip to Australia and New Zealand, that Diana became suspicious,” Morton wrote in his book “Diana: In Her Own Words.”

“Camilla kept asking if Diana was going to hunt when she moved to Highgrove. Nonplussed by such an odd question, Diana replied in the negative. The relief on Camilla’s face was clear.”

Princess Diana didn’t see the relevance of the question and was confused about why Camilla kept on asking her about it. However, later on, she realized that Camilla saw Prince Charles’ love of hunting as a “conduit to maintaining her own relationship with” the heir apparent.

Prince Charles and Camilla met in 1971 and they immediately dated. However, their romance didn’t last for several reasons, according to netizens.

Prince Charles had to leave Camilla to join the Royal Navy. She also wasn’t sure if he would really marry her, so she opted to move on and marry her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles.

According to experts, the royal family ruled out Camilla for Prince Charles because she was deemed as a woman with experience. Camilla had one serious boyfriend and was believed to have “lived in sin.”

It was difficult to pass her off as a “virgin” and at the time, the royal family was obsessed with finding a virgin bride for Prince Charles.

Princess Diana was the perfect bride, so the royal family encouraged Prince Charles to marry her. They had a fairytale wedding but their marriage was very far from it.

In Princess Diana’s infamous Panorama interview, she said, “there were three of us in this marriage, so it’s a bit crowded,” implying about Prince Charles and Camilla’s affair.
