Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle no longer wear gloves like Queen Elizabeth II for a reason.

One royal fan wondered why the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex don’t wear gloves and if this isn’t required. The question that was posted on Quora gained several responses from royal fans. Many believed that wearing gloves are suitable for formal occasions only.

Eileen Woods said that royal ladies still wear gloves but on formal occasions only. She added that many don’t practice this anymore, but the Queen still wears a pair of gloves because it’s how she was raised.

“The Queen wears them because that’s how she was raised,” Wood explained. “Back ‘in the day’, no self-respecting woman in the UK or US left home without a hat, gloves, stockings, and a slip under her dress.”

Wood said that the Queen has to shake hands with a lot of people, so one can hardly blame Her Majesty for wearing gloves. Meanwhile, another netizen believes that Middleton and Markle don’t wear gloves due to fashion.

Just like Wood, Seren Verch Dafydd said that there was no self-respecting woman who appeared in public without a hat, gloves and pearls. However, fashion evolves and that style has already changed. She stated that royals still wear gloves but at certain formal functions only like state dinners.

Laura Warwick Martin also noted that Middleton and Markle’s decision to not wear gloves could be down to fashion.

“Although it is very nice to see, it is an old fashioned concept, one that Her Majesty likes but it was never a requirement of Royalty solely, many ladies wore gloves when out and about, along with hats and the other ‘niceties’ of a bygone era that is slowly passing,” she wrote.

In related news, Middleton sparked pregnancy rumors after she said that she would “love another child.” The duchess said that it was unlikely but added, “Who knows?”

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle have already returned after their successful tour to South Africa. However, not everyone agreed with Prince Harry’s statement about Princess Diana and Markle.

According to Daniela Elser, the Duke of Sussex misunderstood his mom’s connection to the press. Elser said that it’s a myth that Princess Diana was a victim of the media.
