Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles are happily married, but some were wondering why the apparent heir chose her over Princess Diana, who was “lovelier.”

In the online forum Quora, royal fans discussed why they think Prince Charles cheated on Princess Diana with Camilla even though the Princess of Wales is more attractive than the Duchess of Cornwall.

Delia Foster, a retired U.S. Air Force, speculated that it’s about the future king’s feelings. She also felt that looks don’t weigh that much in love.

“Remember that Charles fell in love with Camilla first, but his family did pressure him to find a more suitable bride. I believe the Royals did not think Camilla would fit properly into the lifestyle,” she wrote.

She added that between the two women, the royals found Princess Diana more suitable for the future king, so Prince Charles was forced to marry her but it was not an assurance that he had forgotten Camilla or he loved Princess Diana.

Foster thinks it would have been better if Prince Charles never proposed to the People’s Princess. At present, Prince Charles and Camilla are already married as to each other.

“Because being physically attractive is not an ironclad guarantee that a person will be loyal,” author Dante Wong commented.

Anne Lanham added that perhaps Prince Charles saw something in Camilla because “attraction is subjective.” She believes that Prince Charles had always loved Camilla but was only forced to marry Princess Diana.

Meanwhile, Harold McNamee reminded the netizen who asked the question to be careful because saying that Princess Diana is “lovelier” than Camilla is only an opinion. For McNamee, he never found Princess Diana that attractive. In a scale of 0 to 10 with 10 being the highest, he rated Princess Diana, 4, and Camilla, 5.

Netizens had the same sentiment when rumors about Prince William cheating on Kate Middleton with Rose Hanbury were reported. Many found the Duchess of Cambridge prettier than the Marchioness of Cholmondeley.

The netizens criticized the Duke of Cambridge for his alleged affair and for choosing someone who is “far less attractive than his wife.” Some ridiculed Prince William and Prince Charles by saying, “Like father, like son.”
