After Princess Diana gave birth to Prince Harry, her marriage with Prince Charles reportedly started to fall apart.

The union between the couple, who eventually divorced in 1996, began to experience an abundance of tension after the Prince of Wales made some hurtful comments about their youngest son.

In the book “Diana’s life, Diana: Her True Story” by Andrew Morton, the author revealed Charles and Diana’s marriage went “down the drain” after the heir to the throne began to act like he was disappointed with the birth of his second child.

Princess Diana reportedly reached her breaking point when Prince Charles made an insulting remark, noting Harry had “even got red hair,” a trait that runs in the Princess of Wales’ family.

According to Morton, Diana revealed that “something inside me closed off” after Charles made the cruel comment about their son. Prior to that, the late princess was left upset at her husband’s reaction when Prince Harry turned out to be a boy, even though he wanted a girl.

Although Prince Charles allegedly told Princess Diana he was only “joking” about his reaction, she had a hard time believing him after he complained to her mother, Frances Shand Kydd, about his desire to have a daughter.

Diana and Charles’ marriage quickly crumbled and a year after their divorce, the Princess of Wales died in a tragic car crash in Paris.
