Princess Diana and Meghan Markle shared a sweet connection during the christening of their respective children.

Several years ago, the Princess of Wales sat on a green couch during the pictorial for Prince Harry’s christening. In the snap, Princess Diana is cradling the Duke of Sussex on her lap.

Seated beside the late royal is Prince William, and beside the Duke of Cambridge is Queen Elizabeth II. Sitting on the armrest of the couch is Prince Charles. The Queen Mother is seated on a single-couch of the same color.

And just a few months ago, Prince Harry and Markle sat on the exact same couch during their son Archie’s christening. In the photo, Archie is sitting on his mom’s lap, while Markle’s shoulder is resting on Prince Harry’s chest.

Beside the Sussexes are Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles. And standing behind the royal couple are Prince Charles, Doria Ragland, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale, and Prince William.

According to the Royal Collection Trust, the gilded mahogany couch was part of the furniture supplied to King George IV between 1827 and 1829 for the library at Windsor Castle. At present, the couch is found inside the Drawing Room.

In 1992, the green couch was badly damaged after the Windsor Castle caught on fire. But since the couch was so important for the members of the royal family, they decided to have it upholstered instead of throwing it away.

The couch was upholstered with the exact same print that it had before the fire. The sofa’s arms are also carved with lotus leaves. The front legs of the couch feature carved lions’ feet.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry and Markle also posed in front of the green couch for the first time ever after their royal wedding. The couple was photographed alongside their entourage while inside the Drawing Room.

In the snap, Markle is sitting on the carpeted floor while Prince Harry is sitting behind his wife and on the green couch.
