Princess Eugenie doesn’t receive an allowance from the privy purse like Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle.

The daughters of the Duke and Duchess of York don’t enjoy the same allowance that the Duchess of Cambridge and Duchess of Sussex do. According to Amalie Henden of Express, Princess Eugenie doesn’t receive an allowance from the privy purse because she’s not a working royal even if she is seen undertaking occasional public engagements.

Just like Princess Eugenie, her sister, Princess Beatrice also doesn’t receive the same allowance. However, both are sometimes seen joining the other members of the royal family in various engagements especially when it comes to charities that they support.

On Maundy Thursday, Princess Eugenie was seen accompanying Queen Elizabeth II. She even caught the public’s attention after she was photographed with what appeared to be a baby bump underneath her floral Erdem dress. The said photo prompted the rumors that Princess Eugenie is already pregnant. However, the royals haven’t addressed the said speculations.

According to Antonia Holy of Daily Mail, Prince Andrew actually wanted to have his daughters undertake official duties, so they will be paid from the public purse. Unfortunately, Queen Elizabeth II denied her requests.

To make the matter worse, the $638,447 million-a-year, taxpayer-funded, 24-hour police protection was withdrawn in 2011 to lower monarchy costs. Prince Andrew was reportedly furious because he felt that her girls are being forgotten as Prince Charles’ sons Prince William and Prince Harry take the center stage.

Although Princess Eugenie is not a working royal, she has a full-time job. Prince William and Prince Harry’s cousin holds a director position at Hauser & Wirth, a contemporary art gallery in Mayfair, London.

Princess Eugenie started working there in the summer of 2015 as an associate director. In 2017, the next royal bride was promoted and according to an insider it was “well-deserved.”

In Princess Eugenie’s interview with The Telegraph, she shared that many were surprised when they learned that she has a full-time job. She also reveals that she has always known that she belongs in the art industry.

“I’ve loved art since I was very little. I knew I definitely wouldn't be a painter, but I knew this was the industry for me,” Princess Eugenie said.
