As part of an initiative to get America vaccinated, global food company JBS USA is giving away a year’s supply of meat to 50 families that receive their COVID vaccine at a company-sponsored vaccination clinic.

The program dubbed “Your Shot at Free Meat for a Year” is taking place in rural communities in the U.S., where the company operates, through Aug. 31.

JBS will hold a series of free vaccination clinics and promotional events to get more people vaccinated.

“During the events, at least one newly-vaccinated participant per location will be eligible to win free, delicious beef, pork and poultry to feed a family of four for the next year,” said the company.

Colorado-based JBS USA is one of the leading beef producers in the world.

Upcoming events include:

  • Aug. 19 – Lenoir, North Carolina
  • Aug. 20 – Plainwell, Michigan
  • Aug. 20 – Souderton, Pennsylvania
  • Aug. 21 – Louisville, Kentucky
  • Aug. 21 – Russellville, Alabama
  • Aug. 26 – Waco, Texas
  • Aug 26 – Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • Aug. 28 – Broadway, Virginia
  • Aug. 28 – Guntersville, Alabama
  • Aug. 28 – Live Oak, Florida

JBS will also donate more than 1 million pounds of free beef, pork and poultry to support local communities hosting vaccine clinics.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, JBS USA and Pilgrim’s have been focused on protecting our team members and supporting our communities,” JBS CEO Andre Nogueira said in a statement. “Most recently, our focus has been on providing the free opportunity of vaccination to our U.S. team members as a way of helping bring an end to the pandemic.

“We’ve made great progress, and our vaccination rates are much higher than the rates in the communities that we call home. The JBS USA and Pilgrim’s ‘Your Shot at Free Meat for a Year’ sweepstakes is our way of encouraging our fellow rural community members to join the fight against COVID-19 through vaccination,” he added.

JBS has nearly 70% of its U.S. workforce of 66,000 employees fully vaccinated against COVID-19. It described the figure as unfortunate and due to the low vaccination rate of the surrounding communities.

JBS offers its workers a $100 COVID vaccine bonus, paid time off for vaccine appointments, and has onsite vaccine clinics as well as multi-lingual vaccination education campaigns.
