A Wisconsin man is accused of secretly recording hundreds of naked people inside men’s locker rooms by hiding a camera inside a coffee cup at two separate Wisconsin Athletic Club locations.

Peng Dong, 33, is facing a total of 15 felony charges after he secretly recorded more than 500 people, including children under the age of 10, ABC 7 reported. The incident came to light last year.

Four of the charges against Dong are connected to a club in Wauwatosa county, while the remaining 11 are connected to a club in Wisconsin's Glendale location. An additional charge stemmed from one athletic club in Brookfield, according to the outlet.

Dong's misdemeanor first came to light on Dec. 24, 2021, when someone spotted a camera inside his coffee cup and police were called to the Brookfield location. The man was then arrested. During interrogation, Dong told deputies that "he was only setting up his video camera to catch the person he believed was targeting him and stealing his belongings," Crime Online reported, citing court records.

When police scoured through his hard drive, they found at least 524 naked videos of different victims, 9 of whom were below the age of 10. Dong apparently told cops that it was "the first time he had ever used the camera for this purpose."

Some of the videos date back to 2019, according to Crime Online. The videos were said to have been recorded between 2019 and 2021.

Each count of charges brought against Dong can attract up to a $10,000 fine and 3.5 years in prison. The scheduled date for his court appearance wasn't immediately known. It was also unclear whether he had obtained an attorney.

After the incident came to light, the Wisconsin Athletic Club issued a statement for its members outlining their zero-tolerance policy. The club authorities said they are working with police to probe into the matter.

"The Wisconsin Athletic Club takes the safety of their members very seriously. It is clearly stated in our clubs that the use of video is prohibited in our locker rooms and is subject to state and local law. We are saddened that this took place and have a zero-tolerance policy for these actions and misconduct," the statement read, according to TMJ 4.
