Former WNBA MVP Breanna Stewart announced on Sunday that she is engaged to Spanish basketball player Marta Xargay, who previously played for the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.

A picture on social media shows the Seattle Storm superstar on one knee and proposing to her girlfriend at Papago Park in Phoenix. They both quickly shared the news via Instagram, gathering thousands of likes and comments.

“Life isn’t just about the moments, it’s about who we share them with! I said YES. #wifey,” Xargay captioned the photo.

“Did a thing. Another ring. She said YES. #wifey,” Stewart posted.

Stewart referred to the rings she received when the Storm won titles in 2018 and 2020.

The 26-year-old was the No. 1 pick in the 2016 Draft and was also named Rookie of the Year. In 2018, she received the MVP and the Finals MVP.

Xargay, 30, is from Girona, Spain. She played for the Mercury in 2015 and 2016, and is on the club's preseason roster after two seasons in Europe.
