KEY POINTS

  • Sting has been one of the biggest names in the wrestling industry who reaped success outside the WWE
  • The Undertaker has been one of the most dominant figures in the WWE
  • Sting and Undertaker are speculated for a match at Wrestlemania

The Undertaker is often brought up to the conversation when there’s a potential big match coming up for a major event. The Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia is set this month, February 27, 2020. The pay per view is seen as one of the international events that involve numerous returning legends to rack up the ratings.

Hulk Hogan, Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair were among these all-time greats who were brought out in international shows in previous years.

Rumors have then popped up that WCW legend and WWE Hall of Fame inductee Sting is set for his in-ring return. The speculations of him coming to Super ShowDown were short-lived, as it seems the company has larger plans for the former world champion.

According to TalkSport’s Alex McCarthy, the WCW icon would want to have a dream match against The Undertaker in Wrestlemania. “If there was a ‘Taker situation at WrestleMania, I would listen to that phone call. I could get in condition and I could pull it off,” Sting said in an interview with Sports Illustrated.

The last time the WWE Universe saw Sting in action was during his match against Seth Rollins. It was during the Night of Champions pay per view in 2015 where Seth Rollins defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match ended in an unfortunate manner as Sting took a bad bump after Seth Rollins’ trademark Buckle Bomb. It resulted in a legitimate neck injury that sidelined the legend.

He was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2016 where he announced his retirement. Now with the speculation of another match, there’s a possibility that the world will finally be treated to one of the biggest what-if matchups in the industry.

Undertaker without a doubt is one of the biggest names in wrestling. Sting, on the other hand, has been a favorite of the same era but had very limited time in the WWE. This could be a match for the ages with two of the very best going at it at the grandest stage of them all.
