KEY POINTS

  • WWE is currently in the process of figuring out how Roman Reigns will enter WrestleMania
  • Sources report that Reigns will only be having one title on his shoulder by then
  • How WWE will split his titles is going to be something for pro wrestling fans to look out for

Roman Reigns is closing in on a 900-day reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. and it appears that he will not relinquish the titles anytime soon.

However, the empire might not last beyond WrestleMania 39.

In an exclusive report by Wrestling News, the current plan for WWE's two-night pro wrestling extravaganza is going to feature Reigns in a Universal Championship match on Night 2 against Cody Rhodes, should Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson be unavailable for the event.

The curious part that drew the attention of most pro wrestling fans is the Night 1 main event in which Seth Rollins will face Drew McIntyre or Rhodes for the WWE Championship.

It would mean that Reigns will have to lose the WWE Championship even before the event happens in the first place.

The talk of splitting the titles has long been a topic of discussion for the most ardent WWE fans as it has been on Reigns for quite a long time now.

In the eyes of most fans, a head-to-head clash between "The Head of the Table" and "The Great One" is the most sensible match at WrestleMania due to the family ties that have played a big part in the former's transformation into the super heel that he is.

Under the guise of kayfabe, The Rock is the only prominent member of the Samoan family tree that has not yet publicly acknowledged Reigns as their "Tribal Chief" and WWE would have no trouble building up their clash.

After all, the youngest Bloodline member and real-life sibling to The Usos, Solo Sikoa had taken offense to The Rock's comments about Reigns in early November.

However, it may not all come to fruition depending on a multitude of things most likely relating to The Rock's commitments to Hollywood.

As revealed by Steve Carrier of Ringside News last week, WWE is "currently pitching alternatives" for Reigns and the recent report from Wrestling News appears to be one of the company's current plans for Reigns.

How WWE splits up the title is still up for debate, but if the December 19 episode of Raw is any indication, it could be a storyline punishment for Reigns and his faction.

The Bloodline featuring the aforementioned Sikoa and Usos, alongside Sami Zayn, went on Raw to attack random superstars backstage and generally cause mayhem.

Looking ahead to WrestleMania season, on-screen authority figure Adam Pearce can then bring up the issue to WWE chief Triple H and find a type of punishment that would bring Reigns and his faction down a peg while preventing future incidents.

Triple H can then opt to strip Reigns of the WWE Championship and subsequently ban him from competing for it in the meantime.

The road to WrestleMania is set to begin at the conclusion of the Royal Rumble and as in past years, fans will be keeping a close eye on the outcome of the men's match.
