The WWE Universe is about to witness the return of former Intercontinental Champion as the World Wrestling Entertainment made the signing of John Morrison official through their website. Morrison has been away from the wrestling promotion for the past eight years.

On the recent episode of WWE Backstage, Ryan Satin delivered the news that the “Prince of Parkour” is indeed back as the company signed the 40-year old highflyer to a multi-year contract. Started as the co-winner of the WWE’s Tough Enough III in 2002, he’s won the ECW World Championship, Tag Team titles multiple times and the Intercontinental championship during his stay with the WWE.

Morrison’s last appearance was in November 2011 a loss to The Miz, whom he won a tag team title with twice, in a Falls Count Anywhere match as a part of a storyline recognizing Morrison’s end of contract. It was later revealed that he chose to walk away from WWE to recover from his neck injury despite being offered a three-year extension by the company.

Confirming the news is Morrison himself, whose real name is John Hennigan, via Twitter. The “Guru of Greatness” expressed his excitement on his return to the WWE.

After the announcement, Morrison’s wife Taya Valkyrie also made her excitement over her husband’s move via Twitter. The current AAA Reine de Reinas Champion even called him as “Mayor of Slamtown”.

With his pending appearance on the WWE anytime soon, the fans (and some fellow wrestlers) are also excited to see “The Shaman of Sexy” walking down the ring and finishing his matches with “Starship Pain”.

It is still unknown to what brand is he going to be a part of – either claiming back his intercontinental title which is currently being held by Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown, joining the red brand on RAW and restart his feud with Rey Mysterio, or be the main attraction on NXT. While being away from the WWE, he’s wrestled in other promotions such as Lucha Underground where he and Mysterio faced multiple times, Libra AAA Worldwide where his wife is a current title-holder, and on Impact Wrestling.
