As expected, a WWE heavyweight title match has been set for Money in the Bank set to take place on May 19 at the XL Center in Harford, Connecticut. There are already a couple of interesting matches set and this includes the recently announced title match between reigning champion Kofi Kingston and Kevin Owens.

Seeds of this impending clash were already planted several weeks ago. Kevin Owens goated the New Day into adding him as an honorary member before the Canadian revealed his true colors last April 23. The WWE title clash was made official on the April 30 edition of WWE SmackDown Live.

The Kingston vs. Owens match is expected to be filled with lots of color with the two protagonists already playing the mind games, Ringside News reported. Both are no stranger to this ploy although it places the Dreadlocked Dynamo's title reign on the line. Against Owens, Kingston cannot let his guard down even if he has Xavier Woods lurking somewhere.

Aside from Kingston expected to be busy defending his title, it also officially takes out the New Day from possibly vying for the WWE Tag Team titles. With Jeff Hardy needing to undergo surgery, the Hardy Boyz will be forced to relinquish the SmackDown tag team titles. This was something speculated in a previous post and the New Day, featuring Kingston and Woods, would have made sense. Big E, their third member, is also out with an injury.

With Jeff Hardy out, Matt Hardy may have to go solo from here. However, R-Truth has entered the fray and game to the aid of the Hardys when Lars Sullivan came out to demolish the brothers. In getting himself involved, R-Truth also got a beatdown.

Matt Hardy or even R-Truth could find themselves embroiled in a storyline with Sullivan. If that is not in the script, both could team up and work their way towards winning the tag team titles. From the looks of it, a pocket tournament will be held to determine the new SmackDown tag team champions.

Among the tag teams who could emerge as new SmackDown tag team champs include the team of Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev, The B-Team, Heavy Machinery or the Colons. The Usos would have made sense only that they are now on WWE Raw.
