KEY POINTS

  • Edge vs. Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania 37 is sealed with a spear
  • Daniel Bryan may still figure in the WWE Universal Title scenario
  • Bryan could start a new feud with Jey Uso as well

Roman Reigns unsurprisingly retained the WWE Universal Championship after finishing off Daniel Bryan at WWE Elimination Chamber.

However, his celebration was spoiled when Edge emerged and speared him after the short match.

It does not take a genius to figure out what that patented spear from Edge meant. It appears the stage is set for WrestleMania 37 in what will be the “Battle of Spears.” But does this mean that Bryan’s loss takes him out of the picture?

The answer to that may depend. Bryan and Uso were the last combatants in the Elimination Chamber match, something that may carry on to WrestleMania 37.

But if that does not transpire, the "Yes Man" could push himself into the speculated Reigns vs. Edge match to make it a Triple Threat match.

A better picture should be set by the next episode of WWE SmackDown. But the win of Reigns and the Elimination Chamber conquest of Bryan set the tone for new storylines ahead.

Also, Kevin Owens remains in the picture, someone who may likely navigate his attention on Jey Uso.

Of course, there is a possibility that Edge’s spear was just payback. But the chances of that are small considering The Miz cashed in and became the new WWE Champion at the expense of a battered Drew McIntyre.

Hence, both are expected to meet again by WrestleMania 37 unless the creative team comes up with a sudden change of plans from succeeding shows.

Once an Edge vs. Reigns affair is set for WrestleMania 37, it will be interesting to see if the "Tribal Chief" will remain as champion.

It would be a Cinderella story for the "Rated-R Superstar" although his status as WWE champion, assuming he wins, may raise a lot of questions.

Though Edge has bucked the odds and has so far stayed the course, it remains that he is at an age where any injury he incurs would take time to heal.

His rise from retirement is remarkable, but the ability to do shows regularly hardly convinces most that he can.

If Reigns goes on to retain his title at WrestleMania 37, there is no telling what to expect. Will inactive stars be making a surprise appearance? What about other wrestlers who recently returned to active duty?

Whatever happens, expect a new twist popping up between now and WrestleMania 37.
