KEY POINTS

  • John Cena's return teases a match with Roman Reigns at SummerSlam 2021
  • Seth Rollins may set an interesting feud with Edge at the same event
  • The Usos are expected to continue their angle with Rey and Dominik Mysterio

WWE knows there is perhaps no other superstar to provide a big shot in the arm than John Cena.

The multiple-time world champion emerged following the conclusion of the main event match of the Money In The Bank 2021 pay-per-view, where reigning Universal Champion Roman Reigns won over Edge.

WWE fans may have been provided a glimpse of what is in store for SummerSlam 2021.

Reigns got a big assist from Seth Rollins, who cost Edge the Universal Champion and is expected to be in a new storyline with the "Rated-R Superstar."

The interference of Rey and Dominik Mysterio also means that the SmackDown Tag Team angle with The Usos is far from finished.

It has long been rumored that Cena would be returning to WWE at some point. Most expected it to happen on the next SmackDown episode, but it appears the script was flipped to the delight of the live audience at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The timing appears to be perfect too. Reigns is living up to his heel role, and most know that the future Hall of Famer fits the protagonist role perfectly.

Some clarity is likely to happen when the July 23 edition of SmackDown unfolds.

However, there will be other feuds to look forward to. The sudden entry of Rollins into the WWE Universal Title picture may be his ticket towards a crack at the blue-laced belt.

In a previous post, the former champion hinted at making a run at the strap once more.

He had a good chance to do that had he become the men's Money in the Bank winner. Unfortunately, it was Big E who won it all. But that did not stop “The Architect” from finding another way.

Also worth recalling at that time was Edge cut off Rollins for bragging about targeting the WWE Universal Title.

It is possible that this had something to do with his interference, setting the stage for yet another interesting storyline that could be on tap for SummerSlam 2021.
