Fan-favorite mutant Psylocke, played by actress Olivia Munn, will sport purple hair in the forthcoming film, “X-Men: Apocalypse," a recent tweet by the film’s hair designer has confirmed. Felix Lariviere made the disclosure on Twitter in reply to a fan who asked whether Psylocke's hair would be purple. “Yes, she is purple,” Lariviere responded.

According to comics, Psylocke is a twin sister of Captain Britain and has blonde hair before she colors it purple and takes up modeling. Psycloke’s alter ego is Betsy Braddock, who by age 16 manifests various superhuman abilities, included telepathy. She later becomes part of an organization called Strike and falls in love with fellow operative Tom Lennox.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” director Bryan Singer confirmed Munn's inclusion in the film via a tweet last month. “Excited to welcome @oliviamunn as Betsy Braddock,” he wrote. According to People, Psycloke creates a purple sword using only her imagination and fights with it. She also has ninja skills and psychic powers.

Meanwhile, the film will also star Sophie Turner as Jean Grey and Ben Hardy as Angel. Jean Grey, aka Marvel Girl/Phoenix, is a founding member of X-Men, according to comic books. She is a caring and nurturing figure and is born with telepathic and telekinetic abilities. She first comes to know about her powers when a car hits her friend.

“X-Men: Apocalypse” is scheduled to be released May 19, 2016. The other cast members include James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence and Evan Peters. This will reportedly be last time that Jennifer Lawrence will play Mystique in the “X-Men” series.
