The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be announced on Feb. 24 while the Samsung Galaxy S7 is likely to be launched before it on Feb. 21. Here is a comparison on the release date, price, specifications and features between the two of the most awaited flagships of 2016.

Design and Display

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will be arriving with glass panels on the rear and front sides. It will be accompanied with a metallic frame, 9 to 5 Google reported. It will be available in colors like gold, pink, silver and black.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S7 will be sporting a similar design as Galaxy S6 with glass panels on both sides along with a magnesium metal frame. With IP67 certification onboard, the Galaxy S7 will be arriving with a water-resistant chassis. It is expected to be available in colors like silver, gold and black. Both Xiaomi Mi 5 and Galaxy S7 are expected to sport curved back panels.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will arrive with a 5.2-inch full HD display. However, the Galaxy S7 will support Quad HD resolution on its 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display. Both smartphones are expected to feature pressure-sensitive screens that will function like the 3D Touch feature on the iPhone.

Chipset, RAM and Storage

The Snapdragon 820 will be fueling both the smartphones. However, an Exynos 8890 chipset of Galaxy S7 will be available for markets other than North America. The Galaxy S7 will feature 4 GB of RAM and storage options like 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. It will be arriving with hybrid SIM slot to support a microSD card.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature 3 GB of RAM on 32 GB storage model and 4 GB of RAM on 64 GB storage edition. It will also carry support for microSD card slot.

Camera and Software

A 26-megapixel camera with f/1.6 lens is expected to be available on the Xiaomi Mi 5, Times News UK reported. It is expected to feature an 8-megapixel frontal camera.

On the other side, the Galaxy S7 will be equipped with 12-megapixel with f/1.7 lens that will be equipped with larger pixels that will be capable of snapping best quality photos in low-lighting surroundings. It will sport a selfie camera of 5-megapixel.

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update will available on both the smartphones. However, a Windows 10 Mobile variant is also expected to be available for the Xiaomi Mi 5.

Connectivity and Battery

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to feature 802.11ad an industry first Wi-Fi connection standard. Both smartphones will be equipped with usual connectivity features and a fingerprint sensor. A battery of 3600 mAh will be present inside the Xiaomi Mi 5 whereas the Galaxy S7 will be packed with a 2800 mAh battery.

Release Date and Price

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is expected to be available for buying in a week after its announcement on Feb. 24. It is expected to cost $306 and $352 for the 32 GB and 64 GB storage variants, respectively. The Samsung Galaxy S7 will be available for purchase in March with an expected starting price of about $700.
