The Vivo NEX was the first Android smartphone to feature a pop-up front camera, then the Oppo Find X took it up a notch with a sliding mechanism for all three of its cameras. Now, Xiaomi is teasing the release of the Mi Mix 3 and it looks like the device will have a sliding design that’s a bit different from what’s found on the Oppo Find X.

The very first live photo of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 was shared on the Chinese social media site Weibo by Xiaomi President Lin Bin and was fisrt spotted by GSM Arena. He also teased that they are aiming for an October release date for its upcoming bezel-less handset.

The image that the Xiaomi president shared that the Mi Mix 3 will have an all-screen design with very minimal bezels around the screen. The image also hints that the handset will have a sliding mechanism that will hide the front-facing dual cameras. At first glance, it may look like the Mi Mix 3 is copying the Oppo Find X’s design, but it might actually be different.

Looking at the bottom portion of the Mi Mix 3, it looks like the entire back portion of the handset is the one that slides up, while the display portion slides down. Lin Bin didn’t provide any additional details on how exactly the slider works on the Mi Mix 3 and this is simply based on what can be seen on the photo. The Oppo Find X’s sliding mechanism just hides the cameras inside the phone by popping up and down from the top edge portion of the handset.

Unfortunately, information on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 specs weren’t shared on the Weibo post. However, previous rumors suggest that the handset will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It’s also believed that the phone will run Android 9.0 Pie straight out of the box. There are also murmurs going around claiming that the Mi Mix 3 may house an in-display fingerprint scanner.
