The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 was officially announced in China on Nov. 24. Although the handset is not available for purchase in the U.S., third party retailers from China like Gear Best have already started with the Redmi Note 3 preorders for worldwide buyers with a starting price of $179.

According to Android Pit, the Redmi Note 2 handset from last year was not released in the U.S. Hence, it is unlikely that the Redmi Note 3 will be arriving to U.S. markets. Even though the new handset is midranger but Xiaomi has built with full-metal design and it comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor. Hence, the handset carries traits of a high-end smartphone.

Gear Best is selling the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 with a starting cost of $179 for 16 GB model. The price of 32 GB variant has been slashed to $199 from its usual price of $209 NDTV

The Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch display that carries support for full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It delivers a pixel density of 403 ppi. The handset is powered by MediaTek Helio X10 chipset that includes an octa-core processor that clock at 2 GHz.

The 16 GB variant of Redmi Note 3 features 2 GB of RAM and the 32 GB variant of the handset is supported by 3 GB of RAM. The handset comes preinstalled with Android 5.0 Lollipop that is overlaid with Xiaomi’s MIUI 7 software.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 measures 8.65 mm in thickness and its weight is 164 grams. It features a mammoth battery of 4,000 mAh capacity. Even though it is packed with a larger battery, it weighs only 4 grams more than the older handset. The battery carries support for fast charging which makes it possible to charge half the capacity within 1 hour.

Gear Best has started the Redmi Note 3 preorders with a price tag of $179.79 for the 16 GB model and $209.79 for the 32 GB model. Both the variants are available in multiple color options such as gray, golden and silver. The listings of both variants show that the last date to preorder the handset is Dec. 23. The retailer is also offering free shipping service to all the worldwide buyers of the Redmi Note 3 smartphone.
