“Younger” star Hilary Duff has opened up about how getting married early has affected her life.

During an appearance on “The Talk,” the actress said that she does not have regrets about marrying at the age of 22, although she did admit that she and her ex-husband Mike Comrie lacked the maturity to fight for their marriage. “I was 22 when I got married,” Duff said. “I’m now divorced. I have a 4-year-old — I wouldn’t change any of it for the world.”

Duff said that working at such a young age and having accomplishments when she was just a teen made her feel like she was ready to take on the responsibilities that come with a marriage.

The actress has been vocal about her struggles with being a mom in Hollywood and how her marrying and having a child at an early age became something that people would use against her. Duff said she has been “pigeonholed” for being a mom. The actress added that women who decide not to have children are also criticized. Duff explained that there is a strange fascination about what women do with their lives, which men don’t experience.

“After I had Luca, I went out to, like, the breast-pump store — I was still huge — and I just had a comfortable outfit on,” the actress said in an interview with Redbook magazine. “And the next day [in the tabloids] it was like, ‘Hilary debuts post-baby bod!’ And I was like, ‘That’s not a debut! That’s an errand!’ It was such a happy time that I honestly didn’t care; it wasn’t until later that I realized how mean and invasive it was.”

Despite all the challenges she faces when it comes to being a mother, Duff maintains that her son is her favorite person in the world and that she continues to be inspired by him.

Duff gave birth to Luca in 2012.
