YouTube is bringing Amazon deeper into the creator economy with a brand new feature that creates a direct gateway for viewers to buy the products that content creators recommend in their videos.

The video-sharing platform announced that Amazon has officially joined the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program in the United States, allowing participating creators to tag eligible Amazon products directly inside Shorts, traditional long-form videos, and livestreams. The integration means viewers can discover products while watching and then complete their purchases through Amazon.

Creators who participate in Amazon's affiliate programs have traditionally relied heavily on links placed in video descriptions. Now, eligible products can appear through YouTube's native shopping tools, putting the recommendation much closer to the content that prompted the viewer's interest.

"You can tag products from Amazon directly in your videos, Shorts, and livestreams," YouTube explains on its support page for the Amazon integration. Viewers who interact with those recommendations can purchase the products from Amazon, while creators can earn commissions on qualifying transactions.

The change could have a significant impact on clicks. YouTube said that during an internal experiment conducted from July 14 through July 29, 2026, videos using YouTube Shopping product tags alone generated more than 110% more product clicks than videos relying on description links alone.

Access is not automatic for every YouTube creator. According to YouTube's eligibility requirements, creators must be enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program and the U.S. YouTube Shopping affiliate program. They must also have an active account in either the Amazon Influencer Program or Amazon Associates Program and link that account to their YouTube channel.

Once enabled, creators can use the product picker inside YouTube Studio to select eligible Amazon products and add them to their content. YouTube says creators can also request that additional Amazon products become available for tagging through Creator Support. Creators who turn on auto-tagging may have YouTube automatically identify eligible Amazon products appearing or being discussed in recent and future uploads.

The Amazon partnership arrives as YouTube aggressively expands its commerce business. In March, the company lowered the YouTube Shopping affiliate threshold to include eligible YouTube Partner Program creators with at least 500 subscribers, potentially putting shopping tools in the hands of a much larger group of smaller creators.

YouTube had already been building a sizable commerce ecosystem. The company said last year that YouTube Shopping gross merchandise volume had increased fivefold year over year and that more than 500,000 creators worldwide were enrolled in the program as of July 2025. It also expanded relationships with merchants including Nike, Etsy, Best Buy, Michaels, and Michael Kors.
