Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane heaped praise on Karim Benzema, saying the forward is playing on a “different level” after Los Blancos defeated Eibar 3-1 in the 2020-21 La Liga Sunday.

Benzema netted the opening goal of the match at the Municipal de Ipurua before he provided two assists to help Real Madrid register their fifth consecutive victory in all competitions.

It was the 30th time Benzema has scored and assisted in the same La Liga match. Only Cristiano Ronaldo (44) had done it for Real Madrid in the 21st century.

Following the win over Eibar, Real Madrid are level on points with leaders Atletico Madrid, but Diego Simeone's side has played two fewer matches in the league.

"Benzema is a match-winner because what he's doing is on a different level, not just because of the goals. I always repeat myself saying the same thing about Karim. It's not only his goals, he's a focal point in our game. He's very important for us, and when he scores, it's even better, obviously, but he's very important for our team," Zidane told a press conference.

The 33-year-old Frenchman has netted 11 goals for Real Madrid in 17 competitive matches in the ongoing campaign, including seven in the Spanish league. It was Real Madrid’s ninth win in the league, while they have suffered three losses and drawn two.

"We have to highlight everyone's performance. It was a great game today and it was a great performance from both teams. It's a well-deserved victory, " added Zidane in the press conference.
