When it comes to “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,” Treyarch hasn’t been shy about revealing information concerning the game's multiplayer maps and overall gameplay. But it wasn’t until recently that players learned more about the game’s Zombie Mode, one of the more highly-anticipated aspects of the acclaimed military shooter.

On Wednesday, the official Treyarch Studios Twitter account posted the next trailer for “Black Ops 2” Zombies with the accompanying phrase: “Coming along for the ride?”

The 40-second long Zombies teaser trailer begins with images of the post-apocalyptic world in which the game takes place. The scenery consists of fire ravaging through a barren, desolate landscape filled with deserted cars and destruction. Soft, childish music sets the eerie mood as what appears to be a school bus, the only functional vehicle in sight, slows to a stop.

The doors to the bus open slowly, and a narrator exclaims, “Welcome Aboard!” just before the “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” logo appears. Blood is splattered on the text accompanied by maniacal laughter, just before cutting to quick scenes of zombies flooding the city.

According to the trailer, Black Ops 2's undead gaming mode will get its official world reveal on Sept. 26. While Thursday's new clip is short, it does seem to reveal insight as to what players can expect when delving into the Zombie Mode in “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.” A previously released Zombies trailer teased a different 40 seconds of the post-apocalyptic vibe that will be apparent in Treyarch’s next installment of the franchise. Nothing but a fuzzy, old-fashioned television was shown, with dramatic music coming to a climax. It's difficult to decipher any images on the static-filled screen, but there appears to be some kind of massive explosion or disaster taking place.

The more recent trailer provides “Call of Duty: Black Ops” Zombie fans with more information as to what they can expect when the release date arrives.

The upcoming Zombie Mode is expected to take a bold new direction, as Treyarch’s Daniel Suarez insinuated in June. The zombie-slashing game is expected to get new forms of gameplay, such as a zombie survival mode that will involve two teams of four trying to outlast each other. Typically, the “Call of Duty” Zombie Mode consists of players working cooperatively to mow-down hordes of the undead.

An unnamed producer for the development team also spoke to the Official Xbox Magazine this summer, providing background on how the Zombie Mode evolved into what it is today.

“I don’t know if you know the story, but during World at War the very small team was playing around with the concept of a tower defense game within ‘Call of Duty’ and that evolved into Zombies, and it sort of got this underground movement within the studio,” the Treyarch producer said.

Fans will have to wait until the world premiere of “Call of Duty: Black Ops 2” Zombies on Sept. 26 to learn more, but in the meantime check out the trailers, linked below. The release date for the next installment in Treyarch’s popular shooter series is Nov. 13.
