‘13 Reasons Why’
Clay (Dylan Minnette) and Hannah (Katherine Langford) will be featured in the different timelines in “13 Reasons Why” Season 2. Netflix

13 Reasons Why” Season 2 was recently confirmed by Netflix, and new showrunner Brian Yorkey has some spoilers about what fans can expect in the upcoming episodes.

The sequel to “13 Reasons Why” will pick up months after Hannah Baker’s (Katherine Langford) death. This means that all people in Hannah’s tapes – given that they are still alive – are still recovering from the trauma. Yorkey also confirmed that even though Hannah has already passed on, she will still be heavily featured in Season 2.

Here are 5 other things we expect to see in “13 Reasons Why” Season 2.

1. Bryce will face the consequences of his actions

Bryce (Justin Prentice) did a lot of terrible things in Season 1. He not only raped Jessica (Alisha Boe), but he also forced himself on Hannah. But when the first season ended, Bryce was never convicted for the things that he did. According to Yorkey, it is a must that Jessica’s recovery from the incident be featured in Season 2. In the end, the showrunner also wants someone to punch Bryce on the face.

“I want to see how that at least starts to play out and I want to do Jessica’s story the deserved justice of following her as she goes back to school, as she tries to begin to recover from what happened to her, because it’s something that millions of women go through,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

2. All the cliffhangers in Season 1 will be addressed

Yorkey said that all the cliffhangers in Season 1 are interrelated. This means that when bullying is explored for instance, stories about rape and the like will also be addressed. “We’re going to continue to tell their stories really honestly. We’re going to answer all of the burning questions that people have about the show. Is Tyler going to do something? What’s going to happen to Alex? Will Bryce be brought to justice?” he said.

3. The upcoming episodes will take place in multiple timelines

Just like in Season 1, the upcoming episodes of “13 Reasons Why” will take place in different timelines. Flashbacks will be a huge part of the series.

4. There will be a voiceover in every episode

Every episode in Season 2 will have a voiceover, but Yorkey said that it will no longer be Hannah’s. There are speculations that Clay Jensen (Dylan Minnette) could be the one doing the narrating this time around.

“The voiceover and the stories that are being told bring us into the past and back to the present much in the way that Hannah’s voiceover did in Season 1. So there will still be that weaving of time frames and seeing them unfold and how they impact each other as they go,” Yorkey explained.

5. A different form of analog technology will be featured in the show

The cassette tapes from Season 1 will no longer be featured in Season 2. However, a new form of analog technology will play an important role in the upcoming episodes. “There will be a new piece of technology for 13-year-olds to Google and try to understand what it was,” he said.

“13 Reasons Why” Season 2 will premiere on Netflix sometime next year.
