You read that right! It's free Slurpees at 7-Eleven all day long today, July 11.

Just in time to cool us down in this summer heat, 7-Eleven brings back America's favorite unofficial frozen drink holiday, Free Slurpee Day.

Today, 7/11/2011 is the 84th birthday of the Dallas, Texas-based company. To celebrate, America's largest convenience store chain will give away one free 7.11 ounce Slurpee to each and every costumer until the clock strikes midnight.

In a press release from 7-Eleven, organizers of the event were happy to announce that this 7/11 was extra special because stores will be celebrating their only 7/11/11 birthday this century.

You probably don't care about history - just the free Slurpees. But, we'll give you a quick background on America's favorite slushy treat. 7-Eleven licensed Slurpee from the ICEE Company in 1967 and it has since become the iconic item of the stores. Its goofy name is derived from sound one makes when drinking a 'slurp'-'eeee.'

7-Eleven expects to give away over 5 million free Slurpees on Monday. That's an average of roughly 1000 Slurpees per store. According to their website, stop by for a free drink, general merriment, and a one-man dance party - should you choose to start it.
