For as-yet-unexplained reasons, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine lashed out at Fox News via Twitter yesterday, tweeting the following message directed at the conservative network:

Dear Fox News, don't play our music on your evil f*cking channel ever again. Thank you.

Levine did not specify which music was played on the evil f---ing channel, or on which program -- and no one else seems to know exactly what he is talking about. Save, perhaps, Greg Gutfeld and Andy Levy, hosts of Redeye, the late night, irreverent news show on Fox News.

While Fox News has not released an official statement on the Levine tweet, Gutfeld and Levy have had a Twitter field day.

Dear @AdamLevine, don't make crappy f*cking music ever again. Thank you, Levy tweeted just after Levine did.

Shortly afterwards, he wrote: Maroon 5's bio strangely fails to note the band was developed by the CIA as part of its enhanced interrogation techniques program.

Gutfeld is having even more fun, but the childish jokes are probably not doing the much-reviled Fox network any favors.

Immediately after Levine tweeted his message, @GregGutfeld shot back: Dear adam, That's not music.

He didn't stop there. Here's a sampling of his tweets from the last 20 hours:

fun joke: why did Maroon 5 cross the road? because crappy music is legal there! @adamlevine

names that sound alike: Maroon 5 and crap (in response to @adamlevine's tweet: Names that sound alike: @kelseygrammar and @chelseahandler.)

Maroon 5 is just bad music (in response to @adamlevine's tweet: golf is a good walk spoiled. - Mark Twain

Levine has not tweeted again since making the initial ... request of Fox News.

The Fox News official Twitter feed is more concerned about updating news of Muammar Gadhafi's reported death, and has not commented on the tweet spar.
