Television host Trebek accepts Lifetime Achievement Award during the 38th Annual Daytime Entertainment Emmy Awards in Las Vegas
On Monday, Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek posed the question, "A blow to the back of the neck is the punch named for this animal." Contestant Mike piped up almost immediately, answering, "What is a donkey?" referring to a "donkey punch," an answer which has gone viral as a worldwide trending topic. Reuters

Alex Trebek chased a burglar Wednesday morning, but it came with a price.

Appearing on crutches at the National Geographic World Championship at the Google headquarters, the 71-year-old "Jeopardy" host explained that he had snapped his Achilles tendon and injured his other leg during the ordeal.

Trebek was fast asleep at a San Francisco hotel when the burglar entered the room, aiming for cash and personal items.

One of these items was a bracelet from Trebek's mother, which had been worn on every episode of the show for the last two decades, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 2:30am chase was not without drama. The Canadian game show host reportedly caught up to the burglar, but had to let go after experiencing the injury.

The burglar, identified as a 56-year-old Lucinda Moyers, was eventually caught with the help of hotel security. She was arrested by San Francisco police on charges of felony burglary and possession of stolen property, according to local reports.

Trebek is expected to make a full recovery following surgery later this week.
