Forget about the theme of “American Horror Story” Season 6 — who is part of the cast?

While there is plenty of mystery surrounding the upcoming installment of the FX anthology series, the one thing that fans don’t have to worry about is the cast. Many actors and actresses from previous seasons are returning to the show. However, there will also be a couple of newcomers, like Jacob Artist and Cuba Gooding Jr. The character list remains unclear as of now, but here are the actors definitely set to appear in the sixth season:

Angela Bassett

Angela Bassett has been with “American Horror Story” since Season 3, “Coven.” She told Collider in March that she thinks she might be portraying a psychic in the new season, but warned that that could change when filming starts.

Evan Peters

Actor Evan Peters has been on the FX miniseries since Season 1. Details about his new character are unknown, but he did confirm to The Wrap that his new ginger hair color is for his Season 6 role.

Cheyenne Jackson

Out magazine broke the news that Cheyenne Jackson would be returning to “American Horror Story” in June. The actor made his first appearance in the series last season as hotel owner Will Drake.

Cuba Gooding Jr.

It was rumored in early August that Cuba Gooding Jr. was spotted on the “American Horror Story” set, and the actor confirmed his casting a few weeks later. He hinted to ABC that he’ll be sharing the screen with his “American Crime Story” co-star Sarah Paulson.

Denis O’Hare

Denis O’Hare’s role in Season 6 is being kept quiet. He told Yahoo TV in June that he wasn’t even supposed to reveal that he was a part of the cast.

Jacob Artist

“Glee” alum Jacob Artist took to Instagram on Monday to reveal that he joined the cast of “American Horror Story.” He posted a picture of the script, captioning the image: “Day 1.”

Kathy Bates

Deadline reported in July that Bates is rumored to be returning. Her addition to the cast has not been officially announced.

Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga made her debut in the “American Horror Story” franchise in Season 5 as The Countess. The role earned her the Golden Globe for best actress in a miniseries or television film at last year’s award show. She’s set to return in Season 6, but it doesn’t sound like she’ll have a major part. Gaga told Z100 earlier this year that she could not reveal “how” or “when” she’s appearing, leading many to speculate that it will be a guest role.

Leslie Jordan

“American Horror Story” fans will recognize Leslie Jordan from Season 3, “Coven.” He’s confirmed to the Washington Blade that he will be appearing in Season 6, but couldn’t give any details about his character.

Matt Bomer

Matt Bomer teased to Magic Radio that he will be part of Season 6 of “American Horror Story” at “some point.

Sarah Paulson

Sarah Paulson has been with “American Horror Story” since Season 1. She confirmed in August that she’ll be appearing in Season 6 as well, but did not reveal details about her character.

Wes Bentley

Creator Ryan Murphy revealed at Paleyfest in March that Wes Bentley would be returning for the sixth season.

As mentioned above, no theme or title of “American Horror Story” Season 6 has been revealed yet. However, FX president John Landgraf did confirm at the Television Critics Association panel in January that the new episodes will be “set in the present [with] echoes of the past … it’s set in two time periods.”
