Motorola has made an official announcement that the first-generation Moto G can be updated to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. The handset was released in November 2013. It comes with Android v4.3 Jelly Bean OS out-of-the-box. However, the new update will allow its users to enjoy the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on their handsets.

According to the official statement from Motorola, once a user upgrades to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop on Moto G, there will be no option to downgrade to a previous version of Android. The new Lollipop OS has a visually attractive interface, and it is designed to deliver better user experience.

After installing Android 5.0.2 Lollipop, users will be able to enjoy the Material Design interface that comes with fluid animations and themes. Some of the other changes include display of notifications on the lock screen, arrival of new, recent apps, alerts shown without lighting up the entire Ambient Display and more. Since the handset will use the new Android Runtime, the applications will function smoothly.

How To Install Android 5.0.2 Lollipop Update On Moto G (2013)

To upgrade to 5.0.2 Lollipop, the Motorola Moto G should have battery with at least 50 percent charge, and it should be connected to a Wi-Fi network. If the handset displays a notification about the arrival of the update, users can simply select “Yes, I’m in.” It will then start downloading the software. Once it is complete, one needs to select “Install now.” The installation process will begin, and the handset will automatically restart during the process, after which the device will be ready to use with new software.

If the handset has not received Lollipop update notification, users can navigate to Settings > About phone > System updates and then select “Yes I’m in.” The software will start downloading, and to install it, one needs to tap on “Install now.” The Android 5.0.2 Lollipop will begin installation on the Moto G. Once installation is complete, the device will restart, and it will be updated to the latest firmware.
