Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie shocked fans when they got married Saturday. The two, dubbed “Brangelina,” got hitched at Chateau Miraval, their estate in France, after obtaining a marriage license from a California judge. Pitt, 50, and Jolie, 39, have been together for nine years and began dating two years after co-starring in the 2005 film “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

The ceremony was attended by close family and friends, reports Us Magazine. The wedding was certainly a family affair, as Jolie walked down the aisle with sons Maddox and Pax. The couple’s daughters, Zahara and Vivienne, were in charge of throwing petals down the aisle, while Shiloh and Knox were ring bearers, according to ABC News.

In 2012, Jolie and Pitt got engaged, and Pitt designed the 16-carat ring along with jeweler Robert Procop. "Yes, it's confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy,” Pitt’s manager said at the time.

Even their engagement was surprising after Jolie admitted in 2006 that marriage was not a top priority for the Hollywood couple. "We both have been married before, so it's not marriage that's necessarily kept some people together," Jolie told People. "We are legally bound to our children, not to each other, and I think that's the most important thing."

But by May 2014, Jolie sounded like she was ready to walk down the aisle. “He's my family. He's not just a lover and partner, which he is, wonderfully, but he's my family now,” Jolie told Extra TV about Pitt.
