Ark: Survival Evolved was one of many internet-connected platforms to be impacted by the AWS server outage that took place Tuesday, and its developers at Studio Wildcard have offered a special evolution event as compensation. An official forum post details the specifics.

The vast majority of issues occurred not with the game itself, but the CrossArk transfer system that allows Dinos, characters and other goodies to be transferred to other maps without fuss. However, once that framework went down, Wildcard was forced to rollback its server status to just before AWS was hit. This potentially meant lost progress or tames for those unaware of what was going on.

In order to recoup anything that’s been erased, we now have the Evolution event. It offers a 50 percent buff on just about everything you can do in the game. This includes breeding, mating, egg hatching, taming, EXP gain and even harvesting. In other words, pretty much all of Ark: Survival Evolved will be in fast forward until further notice. Especially if you didn’t play during the outage, now would be a great time to level up and start getting a better collection of pets.

These parameters should be active on all platforms where the game is available. No specific date has been given as to when these bonuses will be reverted, but the source post mentions everything should be reset by the end of the week.

It’s also worth noting that the Ark team is committed to making sure issues like this don’t happen again. The studio’s community manager says developers are “working on implementing some fail safe methods to avoid situations like this in the future.”
