After years of rumors, the arrival of Arrested Development film has now been revealed by producer of the Emmy Award-wining comedy series, Mitchell Hurwitz.

At the New Yorker Festival Sunday afternoon, the producer hinted that a film with the same title was still in the works, and a few more episodes of the comedy show would also be produced to serve as a prelude to the film.

Talking to the event's moderator, Nancy Franklin about the film, Hurwitz said, We're 80 percent of the way to an answer.

We're trying to do a limited-run series into the movie. ...We're basically hoping to do nine or 10 episodes, with almost one character per episode, he added.

Bateman, who played Michael Bluth in the series, confirmed the news on his twitter: It's true. We will do 10 episodes and the movie. Probably shoot them all together next summer for a release in early '13. VERY excited!

According to reports Showtime and Netflix are trying to get telecast rights of the new episodes.
