The window is shutting on Arsenal's attempts to land a midfielder, though there are several possibilities still available.

Arsenal have submitted a £10 million offer for Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta, according to the BBC. The 29-year-old Spaniard is known for his passing and creative skills, which would be welcomed at Emirates following the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas.

Sky Sports reported that Everton rejected a swap of Arteta for Nicklas Bendtner. It's still unclear where Bendtner is headed as Arsenal appeared to have a deal in place to send the Danish forward to Stoke.

The chances of landing Arteta look good, according to BBC. Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere went on Twitter to post that he was seeking good news about Arteta.

The Gunners are also favourites to land Chelsea midfielder Yossi Benayoun on a loan move. The 31-year-old Israeli is also being pursued by Tottenham and Liverpool.

There is still no word on Sochaux's creative midfielder Marvin Martin. The French star was considered one of Wenger's main targets, but no deal has been reported today. It seems doubtful that a move will materialize at this point.

More disconcerting for Arsenal supporters is the lack of news about Yann M'Vila. The French holding midfielder was apparently on the move to Arsenal, but Rennes were reportedly asking for upwards of £25 million.

There is also little news to report about Clint Dempsey making a move to Emirates. Sources close to the 28-year-old American said that it was highly plausible that Dempsey could join the Gunners by the deadline.

The Independent reports that new Costa Rican forward Joel Campbell has moved to FC Lorient on a season-long loan. Daily Express reported that Henri Lansbury will join West Ham.
