Fabregas will sacrifice a part of his salary in a bid to push the move through.

Arsenal will soon receive a second offer from Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas, as the Catalans prepare a bid around the region of £35 million, including £5 million as add-ons.

The bid still falls short of Arsenal's valuation of £40 million, and despite manager Arsene Wenger growing frustrated with the drawn-out nature of the saga, he is unlikely to sanction the sale. The Daily Telegraph reports that Fabregas is prepared to bear a part of the fee and has agreed to accept around £5 million less in his salary over the duration of the contract. It could temp Barcelona to raise their bid.

Elsewhere, Arsenal target Juan Mata's father, who is also his agent, has revealed that Valencia have rejected a bid for the Spaniard. He went on to state that there was a possibility that the player could move to Inter Milan.

He told calciomercato.com: "Valencia simply rejected their (Arsenal's) offer. After some hesitation they answered 'no' to the Gunners' offer. So my son remains a Valencia player, for now. But I don't think it's their last offer."

He added, "There are several offers for Mata and I think that Arsenal will come forward again. The situation is still evolving.

"Are Inter Milan one of the interested teams? I know my son holds Milan in high esteem. We'll see if Inter will come forward directly."

Arsenal are expected to raise their bid as Mata is one of their primary transfer targets, especially as there is less than a month to go before the end of the transfer season.

The Daily Telegraph has also reported that Arsenal are close to signing Real Madrid's 16-year-old midfielder Jose Rodriguez Martinez. Arsenal scout, Francisco Cagigao, is understood to be impressed with the player's performance in the Under-17 World Club Championship in Madrid.

Centre-back remains a problem area for Wenger and after having a bid for Everton's Phil Jagielka rejected, Arsenal are now looking at Birmingham's Scot Dann, according to the Mirror, and could offer a fee around the region of £10 million. Wenger is believed to be frustrated with Jagielka's asking price and considers Bolton's Gary Cahill too expensive. However, Dann is also a target for fellow-London clubs Chelsea and Tottenham.

The report goes on to say that Arsenal have reopened talks with Deportivo Saprissa on Costa Rican teenager Joel Campbell for a fee believed to be around £930,000.

Elsewhere, Arsenal's young star Jack Wilshere could miss the upcoming friendly against Benefica with a knock he picked up against New York Red Bulls on Sunday. However, the injury is not believed to be serious, as Wilshere confirmed on his Twitter account saying, "Ankle scan just showed some inflammation. Hopefully will settle down in a few days.''

Finally, Newcastle United outcast Joey Barton is linked with Arsenal, among other clubs, after the Magpies put him on the market for a free transfer. Manchester United and Arsenal are also linked with the 28-year-old.
