Real Madrid emphatically proved that their 6-2 thumping of Rayo Vallecano was no fluke, after some disappointing results this month, by handily defeating Ajax, 3-0, in UEFA Champions League group play on Tuesday at Santiago Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo got the goal-scoring started in the 25th minute, when Real Madrid had a fast break that Mesut Ozil pushed up the field, and the German found Karim Benzema, who delivered a cross that the brash Portuguese star was able to easily finish.

Real Madrid would score 16 minutes later with Ronaldo finding Kaka, who delivered a solid left-footed shot from just outside the box that gave Jose Mourinho's club a 2-0 lead.

Benzema put the icing on the cake for Los Galacticos by converting in the box off an unselfish assist from Kaka in the 49th minute.

Indeed, the game belonged to the attacking quartet. Ajax went into the match knowing that it would be difficult to contain Ozil, Kaka, Ronaldo, and Benzema.

Though Ajax were never able to get on the board, the Dutch club still managed to make a game out of it. Ajax took 19 shots with five on goal, and had possession for 49 percent of the match. The Eredivisie club also had six corner kicks.

Real Madrid took 13 shots, with eight on goal, but it was their efficiency in the first half that mattered the most.

Next up for Los Galacticos will be a road match against Espanyol on Sunday.
