It's not just rabid Twitter fans or the folks over at Buzzfeed who feel Ryan Gosling was cheated out of People Magazine's highest honor: even 2011 winner Bradley Cooper feels Gosling is the rightful Sexiest Man Alive.

On The Graham Norton Show in the UK this weekend, Cooper admitted that he felt strange about claiming the title, joking that his Canadian actor pal was always far hotter than the American hearthrob.

It's so awful that I'm admitting this, but the hell with it, Bradley Cooper told Graham Norton. There was such a backlash to when they announced it.

'He just came off the runway.'

Indeed there was. Social media sites all over the Internet exploded when Cooper was given the title of Sexiest Man Alive last month, and in a strange turn of events, most people banded together around one alternate candidate: Ryan Gosling.

At first Cooper, who's friends with Gosling, was willing to accept some people's ire. But as he told Norton, the words of a close friend (or, as he put it, me alone in my room looking at the computer!) made him face an ugly truth last week: Ryan Gosling is far, far prettier than he is.

There's him [Gosling] walking around and he literally looks like he's in a photoshoot, like he just came off the runway, Cooper said. And there's ones of me and I literally look like the neighbor who never really comes out of his house.

And when he [the neighbor] does you're like, 'Maybe he should just stay in! We don't know what he does in there!', Cooper continued. So it's been interesting.

'I could do that sexier.'

Bradley Cooper continued riffing on the People title throughout The Graham Norton Show, saying he had to adjust to the adulation showered on him for being the Sexiest Man Alive of 2011.

I'm finally at an age, I'm 36 years old, where I really don't care about anything like that anymore, which is a wonderful thing, Cooper said. Then this [Sexiest Man Alive] happened and I started to realize how not sexy I am.

I have a lot of moments, he finished, where I'll be walking out, I open up the door and think, 'I could do that a lot sexier. That was not very sexy at all!'

'The Sexy-Off'?

It doesn't help matters that Bradley Cooper is best known for his role in The Hangover films, while Ryan Gosling first wooed female audiences with The Notebook before taking on films like Blue Valentine and The Ides of March.

Both Cooper and Gosling star in the upcoming movie The Place Beyond the Pines. As The Post cheekily notes, perhaps it should be called The Sexy-Off instead.

Though Cooper stopped short of handing over the Sexiest Man Alive title, it was clear to viewers that he, like so many before him, had succumbed to Gosling fever. Which, ironically, makes him sexier.
