Nordine Amrani, the 32-year-old man suspected of carrying out the Begium grenade attack in Liege on Tuesday, had a criminal record and previously did time on guns and drug possession charges.

Belgian news Web site Lesoir.be reported that Amrani is an author and was sentenced to 58 months in prison for possession of weapons and cultivation of cannabis plants.

The Associated Press has reported that Amrani was headed for police questioning when he allegedly launched the attack. He is accused of throwing grenades and opening fire that resulted in the death of four people to include himself.

Liege Prosecutor Danielle Reynders told The AP that the attack that the three others whoa re dead include a 15-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl and a 75-year-old woman. The attack also injured 75 people, which includes a 2-year-old girl, according to Belgian news sources.

Authorities told the media that Amrani had more grenades with him, but they aren't certain if he died from the blast or committed suicide.
