Nokia believes it will set a new industry standard enabling a range of high-end experiences with the Nokia 808 PureView that features exclusive Nokia PureView imaging technologies. The smartphone was released at the Mobile World Conference held in Barcelona, Spain, in February.

Nokia heralds in a new era in high-end smartphone imaging with the Nokia 808 PureView, which incorporates a large, high-resolution 41-megapixel sensor with high-performance Carl Zeiss optics and a new pixel oversampling technology developed by Nokia. This translates into superior low light performance and amazingly acute images that can be saved in compact file sizes to be shared in email, MMS and social networks.

The other flagship Lumia handset, the Lumia 900, was also released at the same event. Lumia 900 was described by Chris Weber, President of Nokia in North America, as iconic, beautiful and fast and is the company's first 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) phone.

Size: The Lumia 900 comes with dimensions of 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm and weighs 160 grams, while Nokia 808 PureView comes with a dimension of 123.9 x 60.2 x 13.9 mm and volume of 95.5 cc and weighs only 169 grams.

Display: The Nokia Lumia 900 sports a 4.3-inch 800 x 480 pixels Super AMOLED Plus capacitive ClearBlack touch-screen with 217 ppi density. On the other hand, PureView sports a 4-inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 640 x 360 pixels and 184 ppi pixel density.

Display Protection: Both the smartphones come with Corning Gorilla Glass display protection.

Processor and Memory: The Lumia 900 comes with a 1.4 GHz Scorpion processor, Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon, Adreno 205 GPU with 16GB internal storage and 512MB RAM. PureView, on the other hand, will come with 1.3 GHz ARM 11, 16 GB internal user memory that can be expanded up to 48 GB with an external microSD memory card. The phone will also have 1 GB ROM and 512 MB RAM.

Operating System: The Lumia 900 will run on the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango and will offer one-touch access to social networking sites along with features like easy grouping of contacts, communication threads and Internet Explorer 9 while 808 PureView will run on Nokia Belle Feature Pack 1.

Nokia's other smartphone, the Lumia 900 sports a rear-facing 8 megapixel, 3264 x 2448 pixels unit dual LED flash camera with 720p video capture capabilities and a secondary 1.3 megapixel camera for video calling. Nokia has used Carl Zeiss optics for the new Lumia 900.

Camera Features: The 808 PureView camera features full-screen 16:9 viewfinder with easy on-screen touch controls, Xenon flash with operating range up to 3.5 m depending on conditions, automatic fill-flash, LED for video recording, Auto focus and touch-to-focus, face detection and three shooting modes: Auto, Scenes, Creative, ND filter and up to 3x loseless digital zoom. While the Lumia 900 has geo-tagging, touch focus technologies.

3G/4G: Lumia 900 has HSDPA 21 Mbps, HSUPA 5.76 Mbps and support 4G LTE while PureView supports 14.4 Mbps download speed and 5.76 Mbps upload speed.

User Interface: Both the Nokia smartphones use Nokia ClearBlack display user interface.

WLAN/Bluetooth/USB: The Lumia 900 has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth 2.1 version with A2DP and EDR, and microUSB 2.0 versions. The PureView, on the other hand, will support Wi Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, UPnP technology along with Bluetooth 3.0 version with A2DP, microUSB (MHL) 2.0 version and USB On-the-Go and NFC.

Battery: The Lumia 900 has a standard Li-Ion 1830 mAh (BP-6EW) battery that gives up to 8 hours of talk time, up to 60 hours of music play and up to 300 hours of standby time and up to 7 hours of talk time. The PureView, on the other hand, sports a Standard Li-Ion 1400 mAh (BV-4D) that gives up to 540 hours of standby time and up to 6 hours 50 minutes of talk-time in 3G.

Additional Features: The Lumia 900 has features like HTML5, Adobe Flash, an Accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass, active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, Xbox Live Hub, Video/photo editor, Voice memo/command/dial, voice navigation, predictive text input and a document viewer/editor.

PureView, however, packs features like SNS integration, Accelerometer, proximity, compass, Stereo FM radio with RDS; FM transmitter active noise cancellation with a dedicated mic, HDMI port, MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ player, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, Voice command/dial, Document viewer, Video/photo editor, Predictive text input.
