D'andre Lane, the father of missing 2-year-old Bianca Jones has been charged with murder. The Detroit child went missing on Dec. 2 after a alleged carjacking at gunpoint. Bianca had been in the back seat of the vehicle.

The 2-year-old has never been found, and prosecutors believe that Lane's story was bogus. Kym Worthy, prosecutor of Wayne County told the New York Daily News that evidence exists showing that Jones was abused by her father the day she disappeared. This development has Lane charged with not only felony murder, but first-degree child abuse.

Criminal Past

Lane is currently serving 14 days in jail for failing to attend a court ordered anger-management course, stated the Detroit Free Press. He was ordered to attend the course in December by his ex-wife Rakiba Mitchell after he violated a protection order set in place after she accused him of assault and harassment. According to the news source, Lane was jailed after a judge discovered he had failed to attend.

The Huffington Post reported that the father had served over three years in jail for drug and firearm possession in 2003. In 1996 he served four year probation for assault with intent to commit armed robbery, as well as conspiracy charges.

Guilty Conscience

The father had reportedly failed a polygraph test provided by police. Terry L. Johnson, Lane's lawyer said that We're not saying he failed. We're saying it was administered improperly. The lawyer went on to say that stress was a main factor in the polygraph test. Lane claimed that he failed because of thoughts about Bianca and the carjacking, not because he had anything to do with her disappearance.

According to the Detroit Free Press, a cadaver dog alerted police to areas in a bedroom in Lane's home, his car, Bianca's car seat and her blanket.

D'andre Lane will be arraigned Thursday.
