Jessica Dorrell, the 25-year-old mistress of former Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, resigned from Arkansas for a one-time payment of $14,000, according to reports.

Dorrell was hired by Petrino, who carried on a seven month relationship with the former volleyball player, to be the student-athlete development coordinator over 158 other applicants. She will receive $14,000 as part of a settlement after she agreed to not try to sell or profit from her affiliation with the Arkansas football program, according to Arkansas News.

While Ms. Dorrell had a legitimate right to apply for and accept a position within the football program, the circumstances surrounding the former coach's decision to hire her compromised her ability to be effective in such a position, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long said. She and I believe she should have the opportunity to move on.

Dorrell had initially been put on paid administrative leave after her relationship with Petrino became public. The extramarital affair hit the airwaves after Petrino got involved in a motorcycle crash on April 1st. The crash left Petrino with broken ribs and cracked vertebrae, but the former Arkansas coach told the public and the Arkansas athletic department that he was the only one involved in the crash.

He later admitted that Dorrell was involved in the motorcycle crash with him and that the pair had carried on an inappropriate relationship. It was eventually revealed through Freedom of Information requests that the pair had exchanged more than 4,300 text messages over a seven month time period. On Oct. 28th -- the day before Arkansas defeated Vanderbilt -- the pair texted back-and-forth a whopping 84 times.

Long also revealed in a press conference that Petrino gave Dorrell a $20,000 gift.

The relationship cost Petrino his job, despite an impressive 21-5 record over the last two seasons, and now has led to Dorrell leaving the school as well.
