Aishwarya Rai Bachchan attended the grand dinner hosted by Mukesh and Nita Ambani at their residence, Antilia, held in the honor of United Nations' Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

The party was also attended by Bollywood biggies like Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Karishma Kapoor and Javed Akhtar among others. What caught everyone's attention at the party was the supposed conversation between Ban and Aishwarya.

The former Miss World interacted with Ban and the entire team, which included Dr Margaret Chan, director general,WHO, Geeta Rao Gupta, deputy executive director,UNICEF, and Dr Babatunde Osotimehin, executive director, United Nation's Population Fund, besides others.

Ban reportedly delivered a short line in Marathi at the party: Mulgi shikli ki pragati zhali (when a girl is educated, it leads to progress), which earned him a roaring applause from celebrities and other high-profile guests.

According to insiders, Ban is deeply interested in launching a global awareness campaign for the girl child, recognizing the high female infanticide rate in the country.

India Today reported, quoting inside sources, that Aishwarya is believed to have accepted the offer of working with the United Nation's girl child awareness campaign.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan gave birth to daughter Aaradhya Bachchan on Nov. 16, 2011. Since then, Aishwarya has been in the public eye for the oodles of weight that she has gained.

Despite her post-pregnancy weight gain, the actress was voted as the best-dressed celebrity on the red carpet in an online survey conducted by Yahoo! India.
