Brad Pitt's Cannes Film Festival debut at the premiere of Killing Them Softly brought a slew of celebrities to the sunshine-drenched region of France, including Karolina Kurkova, Alec Baldwin, Kelly Brook and tennis pro Novak Djokovic with wife Jelena Ristic.

Brad Pitt spoke with reporters before the premiere of his movie at Cannes, revealing that he and fiancée Angelina Jolie do not have a wedding date set just set. The couple is still holding out hope that gay marriage will be legalized across the nation before they wed.

We actually really, truly have no date, Pitt said, according to Yahoo! Movies. We're still hoping that we can figure out marriage equality in the states before that date. The couple previously said that they would not marry until everyone who wanted marry in the U.S. legally could.

Pitt revealed why he chose now, after seven years of romance and six children, to propose to Jolie. It's just something that makes sense to us, he said.

In December, while promoting In the Land of Blood and Honey, Jolie told Christiane Amanpour that her children want a wedding.

The kids asked me the other day, and I asked them if it was just because they wanted to have a 'big cake,' Jolie said. They see movies that have the people getting married in the movies ... you know, the happily ever after. Shrek and Fiona are married. ... We've explained to them that our commitment when we decided to start a family was the greatest commitment you could possibly have. Once you have six children, you're committed.

Brad Pitt is in Cannes sans Angelina Jolie (She's actually not here right now. She's prepping for a movie she starts very soon, he said) to promote the gangster crime thriller, Killing Them Softly. Pitt plays Jackie Cogan, a professional enforcer called to investigate a heist that occurred during a mob-related poker game, according to Yahoo! Movies.

The movie is based on a 1970s crime novel but is set during the 2008 presidential election when Sen. John McCain went up against then-Sen. Barack Obama.

Pitt wants audiences to know that the film, which shows clips of mudslinging ads and images of the financial collapse, is not meant to be political fodder.

I think we're going to see more negative ads than ever before, and I certainly don't want this film to in any way be mistaken for that, Pitt said on Tuesday. The actor said that the film reflects a toxic divide in American politics. It's a serious, serious problems, said Pitt.

Killing Me Softly attracted a star-studded crowd at Cannes, including Sean P. Diddy Combs, singer Cassie, Victoria's Secret supermodel Karolina Kurkova, Cannes jury member Diane Kruger, and Alec Baldwin with fiancée Hilaria Thomas.

Pitt wore a Gucci suit suit to the afternoon press conference and donned a sharp tuxedo with aviator sunglasses for the red carpet.

Pin-up Kelly Brook showed off her mega curves in a multicolored dress by The Blondes from the Spring 2012 collection. The British stunner looked like a delectable candy confection in an array of rainbow crystals.
