To celebrate the 5000th anniversary of Indian jewelry, Tata Group along with Titan is set to produce a gold finish Tata Nano, the world's cheapest car.
Titan, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, will launch the first pure gold jewelry car coined as the Goldplus Nano by April-May 2011.

To present the new Nano, Goldplus, a jewelry brand from the house of Titan Industries Ltd launched a month-long campaign in November. Thirteen designs from across the country competed of becoming India's first jewelry car.
The winning design was selected on December 24th receiving a majority of votes among the 5 lakhs votes casted. This design will be embellished on a Nano car in pure gold at the Titan manufacturing plant in Hosur, Bangalore.
The sole purpose behind designing the Goldplus version is to boost sagging sales of the car. There has been a dramatic decline in sales of just 509 units in the month of November 2010 from 9,000 units in July. The sales dip can be partly attributed to a series of reports of the car catching fire, earlier this year. This dipped the initial enthusiasm displayed by people to invest in the world's cheapest car.
