Players who have yet to have their very own copies of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” and “World In Conflict” can now rejoice. Since Ubisoft is celebrating the anniversaries of the two PC classics, it has decided to offer them to fans for free this holiday season.

On Monday, Ubisoft associate communications manager Chris Watters announced via Ubiblog that the company is giving players the chance to download “Assassin’s Creed IV” and “World in Conflict: Complete Edition” on Uplay PC for free. While “World of Conflict” is celebrating its 10th anniversary since its release, “Assassin’s Creed” is celebrating the first decade anniversary of the franchise. Ubisoft is honoring the milestones by giving players free access to these two this December.

“Set yourself up for a holiday filled with fun and free games by downloading ‘World in Conflict’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’ for free this December,” Watters wrote. He also indicated in his post that fans will get to keep the copies of the PC classics they’ve downloaded during their free download periods.

For those who are interested in downloading either or both games, here is the schedule of their free download periods:

  • “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”
This will be available for download from Dec. 12 at 6 a.m. PST through Dec. 18 at 2 a.m. PST.
  • “World of Conflict” + Soviet Assault
This real-time strategy game and its expansion will be available for download starting Dec. 4 at 9 a.m. PST through Dec. 11 at 2 a.m. PST.

To download a copy, one must first log into his or her Uplay account. Then, the user should follow the prominent banner on the front page. “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” and “World in Conflict” should remain on the user’s account even when promotion has ended as long as they’ve been downloaded correctly, as per PCGamesN.

“Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag” is the sixth major installment in the “Assassin’s Creed” series. The first installment was released on Nov. 13, 2007. It’s an action-adventure game that was developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. This installment was released on Oct. 29, 2013.

Here’s a brief description of “Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag”: “[In this game], you are Edward Kenway, a pirate out to make a name for himself on the tumultuous Caribbean seas by sailing your ship among the isles in search of plunder, attacking enemy vessels, and diving below the waves for lost treasures. Become embroiled in the conflicts of the era and discover your connection to the series’ age-old struggle between the Assassins and the Templars.”

Meanwhile, “World in Conflict” is a real-time strategy game developed by Swedish company Massive Entertainment and published by Sierra Entertainment for Windows PC. It was released on Sept. 18, 2007.

Here’s a brief description of “World in Conflict”: “[This game] is an RTS set in an alternative history in which the Soviet Union invades the United States in the late 1980s. You play the role of an American commander tasked with marshaling air and ground units in skirmishes ranging across the U.S. (and into the U.S.S.R. in the Soviet Assault expansion). Learn the strengths and weaknesses of your armies, then leverage them as you wage war on destructible battlefields in the solo campaign or in online multiplayer.”
