Matt James is about to meet the families of his contestants on Monday’s episode of “The Bachelor” but in-the-know fans are already well-aware of who his Season 25 winner is.

Since January, it has been reported that Matt ends his season of the ABC series by picking Rachael Kirkconnell, the 24-year-old graphic designer from Georgia.

While the couple was said to still be together earlier this month, fans may be wondering if the pair has made it through the controversy surrounding his season.

In recent weeks, it was revealed that Rachael had previously shared a series of controversial posts on social media, which led to her making a public apology on Feb. 11. “I hear you and I'm here to say I was wrong,” she wrote of images that showed her in Native American attire and attending a plantation-themed ball.

She added, “At one point, I didn't recognize how offensive and racist my past actions were, but that doesn't excuse them. My age or when it happened does not excuse anything. They were not acceptable or okay in any sense. I was ignored, but my ignorance was racist.”

Bachelor Nation host Chris Harrison also found himself embroiled in the scandal. After seemingly defending Rachael's actions in an interview, he announced he was temporarily stepping down from his post on Feb. 13 after "excusing historical racism."

So, how are Rachael and Matt today? It seems the two have since parted ways.

In a Feb. 17 update, spoiler blogger Reality Steve, who was the first to reveal Rachael’s win, said the reality stars were staying strong amid the controversy. “They are still together,” he wrote in response to one fan inquiry.

Reality Steve said that he thought they would at least stay together until the show’s “After the Final Rose” special. “Matt and Rachael are still together and will be come ‘ATFR.’ I don’t see that changing. After that? Anybody’s guess,” he wrote to another reader.

He added, “Just think of how hard it is to make it as a couple in this franchise when everything is great and America loves you. Matt and Rachael don’t have much support publicly, they’re living through the biggest scandal this show has ever seen, and they can’t address it publicly for another month. Gonna be real tough for these two to make it in the long run.”

On Monday night, everything changed when Matt posted a note to Instagram expressing his upset over the controversy surrounding his season. While he did not address his relationship with Rachael in his post, Reality Steve soon after shared an update on Matt's relationship status.

"Not that Matt’s statement wasn’t pretty clear itself, but I can confirm that Matt and Rachael have broken up," he tweeted Monday night.
