After months of speculation that longtime “Storage Wars” star Barry Weiss was leaving the hit A&E program, news of the casting shake-up has officially been officially confirmed by fellow star of the show Darrell Sheets.

Following a report from Starcasm that the “Storage Wars” cast has been spotted filming episodes for season five of the program in the Los Angeles area in recent weeks, Sheets confirmed to a fan that Weiss, 54, had officially parted ways with the storage locker-based, treasure hunting series. “Yes, he is gone from the show,” Sheets posted via Twitter on Nov. 28 after being prompted by a fan to confirm or deny the reports.

Weiss, one of the original five stars of the show since its 2010 premiere, has yet to publicly comment on leaving the show; his official Twitter account shows that his last post was in July 2012. In June, Radar Online reported that Weiss had secretly filmed a “farewell episode” just three months after one of the show's former stars, Dave Hester, released claims that the popular reality series was staged.

“They haven’t announced he’s leaving yet, but as of right now, he is not coming back for season five,” a source revealed to Radar Online, adding, “Barry doesn’t even pay for the lockers he buys, the production company does.”

While Weiss will reportedly not be back for season five, two other “Storage Wars” cast members who were rumored to be on the chopping block earlier this year due to alleged budget cuts, auctioneer Dan Dotson and treasure hunter Darrell Sheets, confirmed on social media that they will reappear on the program. “Today’s #StorageWars filming was on fire,” Dotson posted Tuesday. “Super great day started filming season 5 got a great locker and now at the gym #StorageWars” Sheets posted on Nov. 26.

According to a report from Starcasm, original stars Brandi Passante and her husband, Jarrod Schulz, will also appear in season five. Newcomers, including couple Rene and Casey Nezhoda and Ivy Calvin, will also reportedly star on the show's upcoming season.

A&E has yet to release an official comment.
