A secret affair between President Obama and singer Beyoncé seems quite implausible, right? Well, not according to French media. Pascal Rostain, a French photographer, has been quoted in French newspaper Le Figaro as saying that the Washington Post will be publishing a story about their love affair on Tuesday.

While the Post has denied the claim, Rostain said, "You know, at this time, [in] the United States, there is something big that is happening… Besides, it'll go out tomorrow in the Washington Post, we cannot say that it is the gutter press, [reporting on an] alleged affair between President Barack Obama and Beyoncé. I can assure you that the world will talk about it."

What would spark rumors of an affair? Beyoncé certainly has been close to the Obama family over the years. She's been asked to sing at a number of historical events in Washington, including the first family's First Inaugural Dance in 2009, and Obama’s second inauguration in 2013. She was even a special performer at first lady Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday celebration last month.

Talk about an affair cannot be good for the Obamas, after they were rumored to be having marital issues just last year. While in South Africa to pay tribute to Nelson Mandela at his official memorial service in November, President Obama captured a moment with British Prime Minister David Cameron and Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, seated near him in the stands at FNB Stadium.

As Obama shared a laugh with Schmidt, who sat beside him, but his wife, on the other side of him, looked irritated in a photo taken by Roberto Schmidt. In a second photo, which seems to have been taken after Obama snapped the selfie with the Danish prime minister, it is clear that the president and Michelle switched seats so he was no longer sitting next to Helle. People on social media immediately speculated that Michelle had forced her husband to switch seats with her to keep them from communicating during the service.

This is not the first time the stability of the Obamas’ marriage has been called into question. In a controversial biography, “The Amateur: Barack Obama in the White House,” published in 2012, author Edward Klein claims Michelle planned to divorce Barack in 2000.
