The day after Thanksgiving, known as Black Friday, has been recognized as the start of the Christmas shopping season in the United States since the 1950s. Black Friday 2017 was predicted to not be as hectic as other years, with more people shopping online than ever before. Below is a compiled running list of the best deals to take advantage of on Nov. 24.

Costco

Certain Costco deals are listed from Nov. 17-27. The store will be closed on Thanksgiving and open at 9 a.m. Black Friday.

Many deals listed are in-store only, meaning people will have to brave crowds and try to obtain items while supplies last. Some deals included in the retailer’s Black Friday sales are listed as follows: The HP Pavilion 15.6” 1080p Touchscreen Laptop will cost $699.99 instead of $899.99, and the Arlo Pro Smart Home Wireless Security Cameras will sell for $399.99 instead of $499.99.

Kohl’s

Kohl’s generated a buzz with its planned savings on technology items for Black Friday.

Some deals listed included the Amazon Echo Dot will be available for $30 instead of $50, the Google Home device will cost $80 instead of $130 and the Xbox One S will be priced at $190 instead of $280.

Amazon

The retail website Amazon opened its Amazon Black Friday Deals Store Wednesday, making several products such as a 65-inch Samsung TV for less than $1,000 available as one of the “Deals of the Day.” In 2016, Amazon’s deals became more appealing as Black Friday neared.

Amazon Prime members who own an Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Amazon Tap, Amazon Fire TV or Fire tablet can use Alexa — Amazon’s voice-powered, intelligent personal assistant — to shop hands-free. In the past, there were Black Friday deals solely with voice shoppers during the holidays.

GameStop

GameStop, the popular video game and electronics store, listed all of its Black Friday deals as being applicable starting Nov. 23. GameStop locations open Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m.

Some notable deals included saving $50 on the PlayStation 4 Pro, setting the price at $349.99; and saving $100 on the PlayStation 4, setting the price at $199.99. GameStop is also offering a free $50 gift card with the purchase of a 1TB PS4. PlayStation games such as Madden '18 and FIFA '18 are discounted over 50 percent, both priced at $27, rather than the original $59.99.

Best Buy

Best Buy, one of America's most well-known electronics store, is recognized for its Black Friday doorbusters. In past years, shoppers camped out in front of Best Buy locations to ensure they would obtain televisions, video game consoles and more electronic devices as soon as possible. Best Buy's doors are scheduled to open Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 at 5 p.m.

Some of Best Buy's great deals include a Samsung K Ultra HD television for $749.99 instead of $1,099.99; a Samsung 11.5 inch Chromebook for $119 instead of $199 and an Apple iPad mini for $274.99 instead of $399.99. 50 percent off

Walmart

The popular retailer is set to open its doors Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. Walmart has been known for having deals and discounts throughout the year, and the store executes them in a grander scale on Black Friday. Many discounts are available online and in stores. Walmart has previously offered pre-Black Friday and Cyber Monday discounts. From savings on electronic devices, appliances and clothes, the retailer will meet a variety of shopping needs this Black Friday.

Some of Walmart's best deals include a 5th generation iPad for $249 instead of $329; a Google Home for $79 instead of $129 and a Samsung 5" Class Curved 4K Smart TV for $998 instead of $1,298.
