A bi-partisan group of mayors is hoping to capitalize on a message from al-Qaeda to stop the sale of illegal guns nationwide.

In the 30-second ad slated to run nationwide Mayor's Against Illegal Guns - the group that was co-founded by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg of New York - an al-Qaeda member professes how easy it is to purchase guns in America without a background check.

Bloomberg has for years lobbied for closing the gun show loophole, a move that has been praised by lawmakers and advocates. He traveled to Washington several times over the last few years to promote the coalition's position however the NRA's lobby has successfully countered their efforts.
